A great crunchy treat packed with chamomile and lemon balm
Suitable for all healthy adult dogs and puppies over 6 months
Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
2. Grind the chamomile and lemon balm: If you're using whole dried flowers and leaves, grind them down a little to release their properties and make them easier to incorporate into the dough. You can use a mortar and pestle or a small food processor.
3. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, rolled oats, ground chamomile, and lemon balm.
4. Add wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, coconut oil (or peanut butter), honey (if using), and water (or broth).
5. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mix and stir until well combined. You should have a dough that isn't too sticky but holds together well. If it's too dry, add a little more water.
6. Roll out the dough: Lightly flour your surface, then roll the dough out to about 1/4 inch thickness. You can use cookie cutters to shape the biscuits or simply cut them into squares.
7. Bake the biscuits: Place the biscuits on the prepared baking tray and bake for about 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Adjust the baking time for the size of your biscuits.
8. Cool and store: Let the biscuits cool completely before serving them to your dog.
